Boundaries

boundaries - I know I need to set some boundaries for myself, but how can I do that?

We will boast only about what has happened within the boundaries of the work God has given us.

2 Corinthians 10:13

The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are clear, giving insight for living.

Psalm 19:7-8

The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”

Psalm 32:8-9

For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.

Ecclesiastes 3:1

GOD GIVES US clear boundaries for living the Christian life. These are not meant to keep us from having fun but to protect us. Without moral boundaries, chaos reigns, and we get burned out and suffer. We also benefit from setting relational boundaries to maintain some margin in our lives. To avoid burnout in a busy season, make a list of what you must do and what you’d like to do. Then start scratching off the must-dos until you have enough time to enjoy your family and find peace. Freeing yourself from the trap of incessant activity requires asking for help and learning to say no—even to worthwhile activities.
