Being Teachable

being teachable - Why is it important to be open to learning new things?

Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth!

Psalm 86:11

Intelligent people are always ready to learn. Their ears are open for knowledge.

Proverbs 18:15

Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the LORD, and you will gain knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:3-5

Though the Lord gave you adversity for food and suffering for drink, he will still be with you to teach you. You will see your teacher with your own eyes.

Isaiah 30:20

HOW OPEN are you to learning something new? Scripture calls us to be lifelong learners, with the Lord as our primary teacher and guide. And God’s Word promises us wisdom and insight. In fact, it even promises that we can begin to know the very mind of God! Life is an adventure, and God always has something new for us to learn if we start with his Word and apply it to daily living. What if we woke up every day ready to grow with God and absorb his wisdom? Even in days of pain and adversity, God wants to teach us. He longs for us to be open to learning from him. Embrace the role of student and eager apprentice today, remembering that someday “you will see your teacher with your own eyes.”
