A prayer of Love

When I want to grow in my love for others

Dear Lord,

I confess that my first instinct is to take care of myself. Is that why you told us to love our neighbors as ourselves? Help me to fulfill your commandment by seeking to meet the needs of others the same way I seek to meet my own. I know that caring for others is what loving my neighbor is all about. Help me to see that when I show love to others, you are able to touch several hearts—theirs and mine.

It is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” James 2:8
