A prayer of Encouragement

Letting God’s encouragement renew my life

Dear God,

Joshua was a great leader who succeeded Moses. But his resolve may have weakened as he took over the daunting task of leading the Israelites into a land of giants. So you prepared him—and the rest of the people—with specific words of encouragement. Sometimes I long for someone to come beside me to encourage and strengthen me. How much better if that someone is you! O God, your encouragement helps me to press on, to renew my commitment and resolve. It inspires me with the hope that my task is not in vain, that I can make a difference. Your encouragement is a beautiful gift—a spiritual gift that gives me a renewed desire and commitment to obey you. I will find encouragement not by looking within or around me but by looking up to you, my Sovereign God.

Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
