A prayer in times of Doubt

When I doubt God can help me

O mighty God,

Doubt can be a trapdoor to fear or a doorway to confident faith. I doubt you now, but I am choosing to trust you anyway. I believe that you are calling me to this task, so I am not surprised that the obstacles seem to be stacking up. I know this may be a test; you may be preparing to deepen my faith and strengthen my character so that I will know it is really you—rather than my own efforts—coming to my rescue. As the obstacles pile up, I realize I am no longer in charge. Only you can help me now; I can’t accomplish the job on my own. I am ready to give you the credit rather than take it for myself. I don’t want my doubts to lead me to fear, Lord. Please help me to be courageous and to hold on to my belief that you have called me to do something for you. Oh, that I would see your work and know that you are my God.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10
