A prayer for Truth

When I am struggling to know what is really true

Lord,

Please give me wisdom to know what is true. So many of my friends say that truth is whatever seems right for them. But that just doesn’t make sense to me. Truth has to be something that never changes, that applies to all people in all cultures over all times. That is the kind of truth I want to live by, because only that is what can come from an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-wise God. Lord, please help me to know the absolute truths you have established since the dawn of time, because then I will know how to live by your principles. And help me to know what is spiritually true—what is necessary to have a relationship with you that will mean eternal life in your presence forever. Just as I can’t reject the truth about gravity and expect to function well in this world, so I can’t reject the truth about how you have determined life should work and expect my future to turn out well.
