A prayer for Integrity

When I am ready to become a person of integrity

Dear God,

I want to be a person of integrity. Please reveal to me how well my character is corresponding to yours. May my most important goal be to reflect the heart, mind, and actions of Jesus. Only then can I enjoy the kind of pure fellowship with you that you so desire. The more I lack integrity, the more vulnerable I am to sin and its harmful consequences. I know that integrity builds a strong wall around my heart, keeping the arrows of temptation from piercing it. Please help me to be patient, though, because I know I can’t develop integrity overnight. Just as gold is made pure through a refining process that tests the metal with fire, so I am made pure through the refining process of gaining integrity. Please give me the courage to be open to how you will use the everyday circumstances of my life to refine me. Then, as my heart and actions become increasingly pure through this testing, my character will become more like yours, and I will be growing into a person of integrity.
