A prayer for the Impossible

Can God do the impossible for me?

Almighty God,

Your Word is filled with stories of the impossible: a flood covers the earth; a sea is parted so people can walk through it; the sun keeps shining until a battle can be won; a man survives three days in the belly of a fish; a virgin gives birth to a baby boy. To the person who does not believe in you, these stories defy logic. But those who believe you are the Creator of all things also believe that you can alter what you created; you can break natural law to cause something supernatural to happen. It takes eyes of faith to believe the impossible. When my faith is strong, Lord, I understand that what I see is not all there is. I recognize the “impossible” things you do for your people because I believe that anything is possible for you. Dear God, please teach me to recognize the impossible things you accomplish for me and around me each day: the gift of forgiveness; the change of seasons; the intricacies of the human body and its ability to heal; the exact conditions needed to support life on this earth; the birth of a baby. The more I see you accomplish the impossible, the stronger my faith grows. You specialize in doing what, from a human perspective, is impossible. But the end of my abilities is the beginning of yours. I believe you can do the impossible for me.
