A Prayer For Humility
A prayer for Humility
When pride might be getting the best of me
Dear God,
Please show me what it means to be humble. Then perhaps I will be able to find the delicate balance between recognizing my sinful flaws and knowing how much you value me. I know pride is wrong because it elevates me above others, and often above you. Oh, don’t let me think I am the only one who knows what’s going on and what is best. On the other hand, degrading myself is also unacceptable because it denies the value you have placed upon me. I am called your child! You created me in your image and sent your Son to die for me; therefore, I have great value in your eyes. Lord, I guess true humility involves seeing myself as you see me: a person with flaws and a sinful nature, no better or worse in your sight than anyone else—but a person who is worth dying for. No wonder true humility is the pathway to discovering how to serve you and other people.
Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Proverbs 11:2
