A prayer for Peace

With all the upheaval in my life, how can I maintain a sense of peace?

O God,

I could use a little more peace. It seems that the one thing that never changes is change! Just as I think life has settled down a bit, another life-altering change rises up to test me. I guess part of life is learning to expect these new challenges. I need to stop being so upset when my plans are thwarted. Instead, please instill in me the commitment to build my life on the changeless principles and promises that you give in your Word. When I experience upheaval, may I turn to your Word to maintain my perspective and stay grounded. Peace in my life may have to wait until heaven, but I can have peace in my heart right now—and that doesn’t have to change when new challenges come along. O God, I want to make it a priority to approach life with this eternal perspective. May I rest in the security of knowing that my future is in your hands.

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26:3
