A prayer for Love

Am I prepared to sacrifice for those I love?

Father God,

Jesus said that there is no greater love than to give up my life for a friend. Though I may never have to physically die on a friend’s behalf, Jesus’ words prompt a poignant question: What am I willing to sacrifice to show his love to someone? Father, what can I do today to “lay down my life” to show the love of Jesus to a friend or a neighbor?

[Jesus said,] “This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:12-13
