A prayer for Gentleness

When I underestimate the power of gentleness

Dear Jesus,

When the Bible tells me to pursue gentleness, I know it does not mean that I am to be a doormat and let others walk all over me. In fact, you are the perfect example of gentleness, and yet you are also a mighty warrior who defeated the powers of hell. When I am tempted to exert power over others inappropriately, help me to respond with gentleness instead, that I might accomplish your will.

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Colossians 3:12
