A prayer for Creativity

When I need a little inspiration

God,

Creativity is the overflow of a full heart and mind. But sometimes I feel empty. Other times I feel as if my mind is full of the wrong material. How can I fill myself with the kind of beauty that spills out in meaningful ideas, sounds, words, and movements? By taking the time to focus on what is beautiful and what is true. If creativity can be an expression of your beauty, God, then I must always fill up on your Spirit and wisdom. I commit to take time to know you and to soak up what is beautiful. Thank you, God, that when I think about all your creative works in the world around me, your Spirit inspires my heart and mind so that creativity can flow out of my life in productive ways.

Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9
