A Prayer For Dignity

A prayer for Dignity

When I need a better definition of dignity

Almighty God,

Every human being has been given dignity because we are created in your image. If that’s true, why don’t I act like it? So often I fail to acknowledge that worth in myself and others. I tend to rank everyone from important to insignificant. In my own mind, I always come out as superior, of course. No, that is not dignity. Oh, that you would open my eyes to see others as you see them, worthy of my love and respect. Help me to claim the dignity you have given to me. May I act respectably, with self-control, strong faith, love, and patience. Instead of ranking others beneath me, let me build them up to be served above me. And help me to realize how you esteem me, Lord, so that I may be at peace with my own worth and the worth of others.

You made [people] only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. Psalm 8:5
