A prayer for a clear Conscience

When I need God to examine my motives

O God,

I know my motives are often less than pure. Too many of my decisions are made with only me in mind. Jesus taught that our words flow from what’s in our heart. So when my motives are selfish or impure, it is only a matter of time before my words and actions also become selfish and impure. Because the condition of my heart is the key, that’s what you are most concerned about. Father God, you alone know my heart. I may be able to fool others and even myself at times, but I can’t fool you. Holy Father, I welcome your examination of my heart and my motives. Shine the light of your Spirit into the dark corners of my heart, so that I will be able to act with a clear conscience. Then my heart will be more prepared for you to do a great work in me and through me.
