A Prayer About Witnessing

A prayer about Witnessing

When I’m afraid to speak about my faith

Dear Jesus,

When I hear the term “witness,” I am immediately turned off. My first image is of pushy evangelists knocking on people’s doors. But to witness simply means to tell about something I have experienced. Your Word says that all who believe in you share the privilege and responsibility of being witnesses, or simply sharing what we’ve experienced with you. Believing in you isn’t about getting in some exclusive group. It’s about experiencing something so wonderful that I can’t wait to invite others to find it too. Lord Jesus, I have been so afraid of sharing about you that I feel unprepared. When the right time arises, help me to be ready to tell the story of how I met and grew to love you. That is the greatest story I can tell. May my own story be the pathway to a divine moment in another’s life.

God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. 2 Timothy 1:7-8
