A prayer about the Future

When I wonder why God doesn’t show me more of the future

O Lord,

Thank you that you reveal just enough of the future to give me hope. (You tell me that, since I’m a believer, my future in heaven will be more wonderful than I can imagine.) Thank you that you reveal just enough of the future to encourage me to obey. (To receive your rewards in the future requires my obedience in the present.) Thank you that you reveal just enough of the future to increase my dependence on you. (Since you alone know everything about the future, I must rely on you to lead me there.) Moving forward with just a glimpse of what’s ahead is the essence of what it means to live by faith. Perhaps knowing more details about the future would be too much for me to take in, so I will walk with you a step at a time, staying within the light of your presence and trusting where you lead.
