A Prayer About The Call Of God

A prayer about the Call Of God

How can I be sure if God is calling me to do something?

Dear Lord,

How can I know when you are calling me to a specific task? How can I be certain? Perhaps the first thing I need to remember is that I don’t decide when I am called—you do. As I think about examples from the Bible, I see that you chose whom you would call and when you would call them. They didn’t decide. At the time you chose to use them, they were simply obeying, living faithfully for you, and serving where you had placed them. Lord, now I see that I don’t need to worry about how you will call me. Instead, help me to concentrate on why you would call me. May I simply obey consistently, always with a humble heart. Then if you choose to call me for a specific task, I will be open and ready and more prepared to recognize your instructions.

After the death of Moses the LORD’s servant, the LORD spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant. He said, “Moses my servant is dead. Therefore, the time has come for you to lead these people, the Israelites, across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them. . . . Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.” Joshua 1:1-2, 6
