A Prayer About Stubbornness

A prayer about Stubbornness

How do I know when I am being stubborn?

Dear God,

Please reveal to me where my stubbornness is choking out my faith. I know that sometimes I am so set in my ways that I’m not convinced you can change me. May I always believe that you can make a difference in my life. May I never let difficult circumstances convince me that you do not care. May I never stop praying because I’ve made up my mind it won’t help. May I never refuse to trust you. Open my spiritual eyes so I can see clearly that following your way of living, as found in the Bible, will make my life better both now and for eternity. Give me confidence that your plan for my life is actually better than mine. O God, break through my stubbornness. Show me how to give up those things I think are so good and exchange them for things you know are so much better. And when I learn to trust you fully and let go of my own plans, I will find myself giving the glory to you rather than to me.

Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ. Hebrews 3:12-14
