A prayer about Sharing

When I want it all for myself

Lord God,

Why do I find it so hard to share? Why do I struggle to relinquish my possessions and give of myself to others? At the core of my nature is the desire to get, not to give. When I read your Word, I know in my heart that this self-serving desire is wrong. I often feel convicted to share many things: my resources, faith, love, time, talents, money, and possessions. At times I have experienced the enjoyment of sharing with others the blessings you have given me. Lord, you have shared so many of your great riches with me. You have blessed me with special gifts. You even gave your Son, Jesus, to pay the price for my sins. How generous you have been with me. I ask you to help me remove the self-serving attitudes that keep me closed off to others. Teach me by your generous spirit to live with open hands.

May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. Colossians 1:11-12
