A prayer about Service

When I need some motivation to serve

Dear Jesus,

You say that you came to earth to be a servant. May that be my goal as well. Perhaps you place such a high value on serving because it is centered on others rather than on myself, which is the essence of effective Christian living. Lord Jesus, I want to serve. Please transform my simple acts of service into something profound and purposeful. May my singing join a profound chorus of praise that ministers to an entire congregation. May my tithing turn into a profound act of mercy that touches the heart of the needy person who benefits from it. May my teaching Sunday school turn into a profound moment in the heart of a child who suddenly realizes her need for salvation. And may my simple act of visiting shut-ins turn into a profound moment of encouragement. Jesus, I pray for boldness to step out in faith to serve others. I will trust you to turn even my simple acts into meaningful works for your Kingdom.
