A prayer about Potential

When I long to develop into the person God created me to be

Dear God,

I am created in your image, which means I have the potential to reflect your marvelous characteristics. I don’t want to waste that potential! I have faith in you, God, and I give you control of my life so you can begin to develop me in the way you choose. May your Holy Spirit help me to reflect your holiness and use my spiritual gifts to help others. Help me to have an honest view of myself; I don’t want to be proud because of the abilities you have given me, yet I don’t want to be so self-effacing that I fail to use them for your glory. My full potential is found not in what I can do by myself, but in what you can do through me, God.

I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. Philippians 1:6
