A prayer about Injustice

When I long for justice

O Lord,

There is such injustice in the world. I see it everywhere—government, business, communities, even families! Why are we so prone to treat our fellow human beings unjustly? How might I be contributing to this plague of injustice? I admit that sometimes I get angry at you for allowing such injustice in the world. But then I remember that you did not create it. Injustice happens because you created people with free will. We can choose good or evil, right or wrong. Without that freedom, we would only be puppets of a divine dictator, not people who can choose to love and do what is right. To think that the existence of injustice means that you condone it is contrary to your righteous nature and what the Bible teaches about sin. Help me admit that injustice is humans’ fault, and I have a part in it. Now help me be part of the solution. Give me the opportunity and the courage, Lord, to speak up against injustice when I see it, and to do something—anything—to bring justice to someone who needs it. Help me do my part to rescue those in need, and may others do their part as well. Father, I look forward to that day when you promise that justice will rule in every corner of people’s hearts throughout the whole earth.

Those who plant injustice will harvest disaster, and their reign of terror will come to an end. Proverbs 22:8
