A prayer in times of Loneliness

When my relationships with others fail or disappoint

Lord,

Even when I feel alone, you are always with me. The Bible tells me you are thinking about me all the time, and I’m so grateful for that. But when I am abandoned or betrayed by others, I want to throw up my hands and give up. I know I shouldn’t abandon all relationships because a few have failed or disappointed. Lord, even though I feel lonely, I don’t want to start feeling discouraged or sorry for myself. That just isolates me from you and from any hope of genuine relationship. Please use this “alone time” to show me your faithfulness. As I see your faithful presence and abundant mercy, may I be compelled to reach out to others. Keep me from becoming self-focused; help me instead to focus on serving others and caring for their needs. Lord, I long for genuine friendship, and I ask that you would bring godly relationships into my life. But until then and always, I am grateful for your faithful presence with me.
