A Prayer About Influence
A prayer about Influence
When I feel discouraged about sharing my faith
Dear Jesus,
Sometimes I get discouraged that I’m not leading others into a relationship with you. I try so hard to influence people, but sometimes the harder I try, the more they seem to pull away. Instead of focusing on the end results, please help me to focus on the process—living in daily obedience. That steady character and integrity is what will draw others to you, Jesus. On this side of eternity, I may not be able to see how my life influences others. But my job is to plant seeds of faith in the lives of people around me and trust that you will nourish those seeds until they grow into a saving relationship with you.
After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. 1 Corinthians 3:5-8
