A prayer for Guidance

When I can’t see God’s plan for my life

Dear God,

If I want to experience your guidance, I need to trust you. This means being confident that wherever I’ve been, wherever I am, and wherever I’m headed are all a part of your plan. It also means trusting your directions, even when I don’t know the destination. If you were to show me too much of my future, I might become afraid of some hard times ahead or overconfident about my accomplishments. In either case, I might be tempted to stop trusting your wisdom for my life. Your guidance is like a flashlight that lights up just enough of the path ahead to show me where to take the next few steps. By guiding me step by step, Lord, you reveal your plan in your time. You unfold life’s joys and sorrows in doses I can handle. Each day’s circumstances then become proof that you have my best interests in mind. You have a definite plan for me. Help me to trust you to guide me each step of the way.
