A Prayer About God’s Will
A prayer about God’s Will
When God’s will for me seems vague
Dear Lord,
Sometimes your will for me seems so hard to know. Perhaps the problem is that too often I’m expecting you to reveal something special to me, and I ignore the revelation you’ve already given in your Word. Every page of the Bible contains guidance about what you want from me: worship only you, love my neighbors and my enemies, use my spiritual gifts, tell the truth, do not covet, do not steal, be sexually pure, don’t gossip, be generous, don’t take your name in vain, don’t let money control me, let the Holy Spirit control me instead. And there is so much more! I’m beginning to understand that doing all these things is a big part of your will for my life. I believe you also created me for a specific purpose, but until that becomes clear to me, may I follow the areas you have already laid out. As I wait for you to reveal what you want me specifically to do, strengthen me to be obedient to the things you call every person to do. Then, if I happen to miss your direction for a specific task, I won’t have missed your direction for everyday life. May I never forget that obedience to your Word is your will for me.
The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” Psalm 32:8
