A Prayer About Discouragement
A prayer about Discouragement
When my discouragement is overwhelming
Dear Lord,
What is facing me seems overwhelming, if not impossible to overcome. I feel sick, embarrassed, ashamed. I have failed those I love. I am deeply discouraged and want to give up right here and right now. I simply can’t see the way back to joy and happiness. Now I’ve got to decide: Am I going to sink yet deeper into the mire, or am I willing to begin my climb out of the pit? O God, help me! You are the balm that will heal my discouragement. You are my greatest encourager. You never abandon me, and you heal my wounds. You inspire me with your Word; you listen to my prayers and answer them in the way that is best; you revive me with hope. May your encouragement transform me again into a person of hope. May I have the strength to put my past behind me and realize that I am a forgiven person, clothed in dignity, and you count me worthy to be called your own.
From the depths of despair, O LORD, I call for your help. . . . You encourage me by giving me strength. Psalms 130:1; 138:3
