A Prayer About Disapproval
A prayer about Disapproval
When I’m tempted to condemn others for their actions
Dear Jesus,
I have sometimes pictured you as enjoying the company of only good, churchgoing people and being too holy to hang out with immoral people, but I am mistaken. When I read about you in the Bible, I learn that you found those who appeared to be the furthest from you and ministered to their needs. Following your example means looking past people’s behavior to their souls. It will take the special work of your Holy Spirit to help me love those whose behaviors I disapprove of, but they are the people who most need a godly friend. My faith in you, Jesus, and my obedience to your ways shouldn’t separate me from the ungodly—in fact, it qualifies me to reach out to them and serve them in love. Jesus, please show me someone I can reach out to this week.
Even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many. Matthew 20:28
