A prayer about Listening

When I wonder if God is listening to my prayers

O God,

Sometimes I feel as if my prayers are bouncing off the ceiling! I don’t feel like I’m getting a response, and I have to wonder, are you paying any attention? But instead of blaming you, maybe I should ask myself if I am paying attention to your response. God, you always answer prayer because you are loving and good. It’s your nature to give good things to your people. How often do I pray without expecting an answer? How many times have I asked you for things but not paused to notice your response? Have I failed to give you credit because I have missed your answer to my prayers? From now on, when I pray, please alert my mind and open my eyes to notice your response, even if it isn’t the one I want. Train my heart to be thankful for your answer, no matter what it is, because you have taken the time to respond to me. Thank you for the gift of prayer.
