A Prayer About Death

A prayer about Death

When I’m afraid of dying

God in heaven,

I am so afraid of dying. While this life is often scary and hard, it is all I know. The uncertainty of death is what terrifies me most. God, I believe in your Son, Jesus, and I know I will be in heaven when this life is over. So why am I afraid? If I could see from your perspective, would I live in constant fear of death? I trust your assurances that I will have an eternal future, but maybe I don’t know enough about it. As I read your Word, teach me about my eternal home in heaven and what it will be like. I pray that you and all of your promises would become very real to me so that I will focus less on dying and more on my hope for life after death. O God, help me conquer this fear and live with joyful expectation even when the time of my death comes.

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven. . . . Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. Colossians 3:1-2
