A Prayer About Confession

A prayer about Confession

Why confession is essential to my relationship with God

O Lord,

I confess my sin to you. In humility I admit my wrong. Against you, O God, and your standards of holiness I have fallen short. I acknowledge the ugliness of my own sin. Now, please help me to be humble enough to confess to those I have hurt, even though it will be embarrassing and painful. Confession is a necessary part of knowing you, receiving your forgiveness, being released from guilt, and finding a new start. It is only through the humility of admitting my sin that I can establish honesty and trust with you. And I know that only through confession am I forgiven and freed from the eternal consequences of sin. Thank you for showing me that through confession, I can maintain an open line of communication with you.

Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the LORD.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Psalm 32:5
