What do I do when I’ve fallen away from God?

Dear loving God,

When it comes to my relationship with you, every day I have a choice: I can step toward you or step away from you. It takes conscious effort to step toward you; it takes no effort to step away, for my sinful nature is always pulling me in the wrong direction. Lord, suddenly I am realizing that I am farther from you than I want to be. I sense this is a critical moment: I can either deny the problem and keep going the wrong way, or I can recognize my sin and turn toward you. Please don’t let me slip away any more than I have, O God. I confess all I am doing that is causing me to move away. Now may your loving forgiveness pull me back toward you so that I can walk with you now and forever.
