A Prayer For Endurance

A prayer for Endurance

When I want to be effective in serving Jesus my whole life long

Dear Jesus,

Why is it so difficult to do good over a long period of time? It is especially hard when life brings me a string of temptations. How can I be faithful even in the midst of such trials? Just when I think my faith is strong enough to endure, I give in to something I shouldn’t or I’m overwhelmed by doubt. Perhaps my desires are not yet aligned with yours. Maybe I’m still hoping for things that don’t produce long-term discipleship—things like status, control, or acceptance. These things won’t last, so when I hope in them, I will be disappointed. Jesus, you promise me none of these things. You taught that to be the greatest, I must be willing to be the least. So instead of expecting my faith to make me great, let my faith demonstrate your greatness. When I stumble and fall, make me humble and teachable, and redeem my mistakes. Help me to persevere and refocus my hope on you.

In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. 1 Peter 5:10
