A prayer about Absence

When I feel as if God is absent

My God and my defender,

The more my troubles increase, the farther away you seem to be. Why do I feel as if you’ve left me in my darkest hour? I know I can’t trust my feelings right now because I am lonely and overwhelmed. I need to trust in you and your promise that you will never leave me. Father, help me rely on the truth in the Bible. Let your promises reassure me that my feelings aren’t true—you are all that’s true. As I go through this treacherous journey in life, help me to remember that you are my protective shelter. Anytime I feel weary, defeated, or left behind, you are right there inviting me to come and rest in you. Even though I may not feel you walking beside me, I will seek your shelter and the comfort of your presence.

The LORD himself watches over you! The LORD stands beside you as your protective shade. Psalm 121:5
