A Prayer About Wisdom

A prayer about Wisdom

When I want to learn to be wise

Heavenly Father,

The world around me values intelligence more than wisdom, but your Word tells me that wisdom is far more important. I can work to gain more education and develop my intellect, but being intelligent doesn’t guarantee that I’ll have a fulfilled, balanced, or productive life. Success in relationships, fulfillment of my life’s purpose, and spiritual maturity are all far more dependent on wisdom than on intellect. Wisdom comes only from you, so I turn to you for what I need to navigate through life successfully. As I grow in my knowledge of you and my respect for your commands, I will also grow in wisdom. Reveal your wisdom to me as I read the Bible. May I always have a humble and teachable heart so that I can absorb what you say. As I encounter different experiences, I pray that I will learn to link them with the truths of Scripture so that wisdom will flourish in my life. May I never mistake facts or head knowledge for true wisdom. Instead, I ask you to transform my knowledge into discernment and commonsense action. I want to be wise and reflect you, the creator of all knowledge and the fount of all wisdom.

Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom. Psalm 111:10
