A Prayer About Pleasure

A prayer about Pleasure

When I think about what brings me true pleasure

Lord,

I love to gather with friends, family, or other believers to celebrate! It’s a blessing to enjoy food together and to express thanksgiving for your goodness and love. Thank you for allowing me to take pleasure in these good gifts from you. Just as I enjoy watching my family appreciate something special I prepared for them, I know you take pleasure in watching your children enjoy your blessings. At the same time, I read in your Word that the very best kind of pleasure is delighting in doing what you want. Your way is right and good and it brings life. You are pleased when I follow it, because you want the best for me. May I always find pleasure in obedience, Lord. When I do, I will be enjoying life as you intended me to enjoy it—to the fullest!

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. Psalm 1:1-3
