A prayer about the Culture I live in

When I wonder how my culture is affecting me

Father God,

Just as the weather affects my life every day—influencing what I wear, what activities I choose to do, and even my mood—so the culture around me constantly affects me. It subtly influences my values, beliefs, and actions, and it pressures me to conform and fit in. Please open my eyes to the ways I am being changed by my culture. I never want to make choices that are disappointing to you. I know that my best defense against negative influences is to spend time in your Word, becoming ever more familiar with your ways. I need to keep my eyes fixed on your standard so I can see when I deviate from it. Lord, I invite you to challenge my worldview. Change the way I think about and respond to my culture. May I never be conformed to the world but instead be conformed to your image.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2
