A Prayer About Testing
A prayer about Testing
When my faith is being tested
Lord,
Just as students are tested regularly to see if they have understood and retained what they have been taught, so also I sometimes face testing. My character and spiritual commitments are tested by the fires of hardship, persecution, or suffering. Your Word, in James 1:13, tells me that you will not tempt me to sin, but you do use testing to purify me and move me toward maturity and growth. I resist this, Lord, but help me to see it as an opportunity to develop a more committed faith—because as I do, I will also become a wiser and more committed woman. Strengthen my resolve so that I can accomplish all you want me to. Whenever I feel as if my faith is being tested, give me the grace to see you moving in my life to strengthen my relationship with you.
Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James 1:2-4
