A Prayer About Spiritual Disciplines
A prayer about Spiritual Disciplines
When I need a reminder of why I read the Bible regularly
Father,
I sometimes get tired of praying and reading the Bible. I’m ashamed to say that, Lord, especially because I know that doing those things regularly will bring extraordinary results. When I practice spiritual disciplines, I’m learning to avoid sin. But even more, I’m training myself to live with virtue and discipline. The more I practice these things, the more they will become second nature. When I pray and read your Word, I’m acknowledging that you are the source of all wisdom. I’m submitting myself to you because I know that your way is best. Please give me the self-discipline to keep on with daily Bible study, prayer, memorizing Scripture, and service. The more I do, with your help, the more I will resemble Jesus and live with integrity and purity. I want to strive for excellence in my walk with you. May I bring you glory.
How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word. I have tried hard to find you—don’t let me wander from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:9-11
