A Prayer About Significance

A prayer about Significance

When I want my life to count

Lord God,

Deep within my heart is a yearning for my life to count, to make a difference, to be worth something. Sometimes I struggle with feeling insignificant—I’m not sure I’m doing anything truly important. I become paralyzed by what I cannot do rather than acting on what I can do. Everywhere I look I see others who are more successful, more beautiful, more gifted, more this, more that. But you have shown me through your Word that the heroes of the faith—people such as Moses, Rahab, Esther, and Peter—were ordinary people who learned that their significance came not from what they could accomplish with their abilities, but from what you could accomplish through their abilities. Imprint this truth on my heart, Lord. You have created me, and you have given me gifts and talents that you want me to use for your purpose. When I do that, no matter how I compare with anyone else, my life will become significant, both now and for eternity.

My life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. Acts 20:24
