A prayer about Sharing

When I want to become more generous

Heavenly Father,

I’ve been taught to share since early childhood, yet I still find it difficult to give of my resources or of myself. At the very core of my sinful human nature is a desire to get, not give; to accumulate, not relinquish; to look out for myself, not for others. Yet your Word calls me to share many things—my resources, my faith, my love, my time, my talents, my money. You ask me to share because you have shared so generously with me. May I respond in gratitude, Lord, sharing with others as an expression of my love for you. I know that as I share my gifts and resources, I will be passing on your blessings to others. The added benefit is that many things are more enjoyable when I share them with others. Help me to discover that the benefits of giving generously are far greater than the temporary satisfaction of receiving.

May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. Colossians 1:11-12
