A prayer about Regrets

When I’m haunted by regret

Loving God,

I am weighed down by guilt and regret over my past. Guilt is my spiritual response to sin, and regret is the sorrow I feel over the consequences of my decisions. I have sought your forgiveness for my sins, and you have promised to remove my guilt. When I came to faith in Jesus, you forgave all my sins! I praise you that you choose not to remember my past but to give me a fresh start. This is a wonderful truth, even though I still have to live with the consequences of my sin. Help me deal with my regrets so that I may move on without this heavy load. Sorrow over my past choices often consumes my thoughts and keeps me from serving you. Please free me! Let me truly grasp the power of your forgiveness, and in doing so, may I then turn my regrets into a resolve to make better choices in the future. I can’t do this by myself, Lord. I rest in your power.
