A prayer about Sensitivity

When I want to become more sensitive to others

Heavenly Father,

It’s easy for me to be wrapped up in myself, but I want to become more sensitive to the needs of those around me. I know that involves being alert to people and responding appropriately to their feelings, but I need you to prompt me and show me how. May I learn to listen to others and consider the ways their situations are affected by their emotions and circumstances. May I show respect for people and their perspectives and be willing to lay aside my own needs to treat, with gentleness and care, those who are suffering. When I am compassionate, I am reflecting your character, so I know you will equip me in special ways to meet others’ needs. As I put aside my own agenda, listen carefully, and act thoughtfully, please develop in me the kind of sensitive heart that touches others when they need it most.

All of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. 1 Peter 3:8
