A Prayer About Respect

A prayer about Respect

When I’m seeking respect from others

Heavenly Father,

I want others to respect me, but I may be trying to gain respect in the wrong way. The world encourages me to look beautiful at all costs, to act with confidence when I’m scared, to speak with irreverence, and to live by what’s best for me. But that’s a self-centered and unearned way to try to grab respect. Ultimately, living like that will only embarrass me in the eyes of my peers. Your Word tells me that the best way to get respect is to live according to your values. Teach me that when I consistently practice kindness, live with integrity, and am motivated by a deep love of others, I will reflect your character. And the more I exude your love to others, the more I will become the kind of woman who truly earns respect. Lord, please give me the integrity and patience to earn respect the right way—through living to please you.

Even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45
