A prayer about Relevance

When I wonder if the Bible is relevant today

Heavenly Father,

Sometimes I wonder how the Bible can still be relevant so many years after it was written. But when I look at how it has stood the test of time, I am amazed. Recovered manuscripts show that the text has not changed over centuries. Archaeological findings confirm many of the described events. The Bible has been faithfully preserved because it contains your very words. You have promised not to let them disappear from the earth or allow them to be altered by human hands. Your words apply to all generations, cultures, and peoples, yet they speak to me individually as well! May I always approach your Word with reverence, believing that it is living and active, offering wisdom for my life and a picture of you, my Creator. Soften my heart as I read Scripture, Lord, so that my life may be changed by your unchanging words.

[The LORD says,] “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” Isaiah 55:10-11
