A Prayer About Pain

A prayer about Pain

When I need to find hope during painful circumstances

Heavenly Father,

Pain is an almost constant part of life, whether it’s physical—from a broken bone or failing health—or emotional—from betrayal, abandonment, or a broken relationship. I know that my greatest hope in times of pain is to turn to you for healing. Your Word assures me that you never take the day off; you never forget about me. When I feel as though you have abandoned me, it’s often because I have become so focused on easing the hurt from my problems that I’ve forgotten you. You have not promised to remove my pain in this life, but you have promised to help me. Thank you, Lord, that you are always with me in my suffering. You give me hope and purpose in the midst of my aching body and soul.

We believers . . . groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We . . . wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. We were given this hope when we were saved. Romans 8:23-24
