A Prayer About Involvement

A prayer about Involvement

When I don’t want to get involved with another’s problems

Heavenly Father,

It’s all too easy for me to see a problem and think, I don’t want to get involved. Maybe the situation looks too messy or complicated, or I’m not sure my help would be appreciated. I’m sometimes tempted to pretend I don’t notice the problem, hoping that someone else will take care of it. But you call me to be compassionate and active, ready and willing to go the extra mile. You command me to love my neighbor as I love myself—and that’s a call to action. Please give me the courage to get involved. May I respond, not just when it’s convenient, but whenever you provide an opportunity. Allow me the privilege of sharing your love with someone who needs help through a difficult situation.

If you see your neighbor’s ox or sheep or goat wandering away, don’t ignore your responsibility. Take it back to its owner. . . . Do the same if you find your neighbor’s donkey, clothing, or anything else your neighbor loses. Don’t ignore your responsibility. Deuteronomy 22:1, 3
