A prayer about Intercession

When I contemplate the difference that intercessory prayer makes

Loving Father,

Some of the people I care about are struggling, and I get discouraged when I think there is nothing I can do to help. But you remind me that the most important thing I can do is pray. Your Word is full of stories that illustrate the miraculous power that comes when your people cry out to you. Abraham interceded effectively for an entire city, and you sent an angel to rescue the apostle Peter from prison as believers were holding an all-night prayer meeting. May I never doubt that you do hear and answer prayer, although not always in the way or the timing I would choose. I may not completely understand it, but I have faith that praying for others opens up a channel for your love and power. It can create a deep bond between people as well; when I pray for someone else, my heart is softened toward that person and my compassion increases. Thank you for the powerful tool of prayer, Lord. May I never doubt its effectiveness, and may I never take it for granted.
