A prayer about Hurting Others

When I have hurt someone

Lord,

I confess that I have hurt others—sometimes accidentally and sometimes intentionally. I have acted without regard for those around me, trying to get my own way. I have used my words to retaliate when others have hurt me first. I have acted in cold and hateful ways toward others, often just because my pride was injured. And I have neglected to offer compassion or help, even when I could see the needs before me. Forgive me, Lord. I am ashamed of my own pettiness and lack of compassion. You are full of unconditional love, and that can never be compatible with intentionally hurting others. I want to be like you. Please wash me clean and fill me with your love for those around me so that I may treat them the way I should.

All of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it. 1 Peter 3:8-9
